Hatshepsut's Life and Family
Hatshepsut was born into the 18th dynasty also known as the New Kingdom. Hatshepsut was a pharaoh and so was the man she had a child with, but they ruled at different times. His name was Thutmose II. Hatshepsut was Thutmose II's half sister. However, it is likely that the king was worried about his wife. This is because her name literally meant, "the foremost of the noble ladies".
Queen Hatshepsut's parents were Queen Ahmose and Pharaoh Thutmose I. Her mother, Ahmose, was the sister of Amenophris I who was a pharaoh who ruled for 21 years. Her father, Thutmose I, ruled Egypt for roughly 13 years. Hatshepsut seemed to have idolized her father, and eventually had him reburied with her.
Hatshepsut's grandparents are lesser known. On her mother's side, Ahmose-Meritamon was her grandmother, and Amenhotep I was her grandfather. On her father's side, her grandfather was Amenhotep and her grandmother was Senseneb.
Hatshepsut died around 1458 B.C. She was buried in the Valley of the Kings located in the hills near Deir el-Bahri.
